AMY - Mom to Tyson
I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I decided to get my first dog as an "adult". Having been raised with dogs, I thought it would be a piece of cake. I chose a boxer and let's just say, well, he ate the cake.
There are lots of people that really have no idea what they are getting themselves into when
- taking on the responsibility of dog ownership
- taking on the responsibility of dog ownership specifically relating to boxers.
I know because I was one of those people. However, I wouldn't change a thing. In teaching Tyson how to sit, shake and many of the other tricks he can do, he has taught me patience, unconditional love, and most importantly...that my glitter ball Christmas tree ornaments can only go on the top of the tree or else they become his toy.
In 5 years, he has been my constant companion through it all…he is always overexcited to see me (and I do mean overexcited), he is there to comfort me when I am feeling down (he licks me till I have forgotten what it really was that I was so upset about in the first place), and believe me there is never a dull moment when his wiggly boxer butt is around.
I am so glad that a friend and fellow boxer lover introduced me to Legacy Boxer Rescue. They do fantastic and unbelievable things that not only change the lives of boxers that need it, but also bring joy and happiness to those that want a forever companion. I have the chance now to make a difference, and share the things that I have learned along the way.
