Update: February 14, 2005Hi I知 Libby! My foster parents tell me that I知 very lucky to be here. They told me I was very sick and had to have emergency surgery. Thanks to a very special angel that walks shelters and notifies rescue groups to help furry friends like me I知 able to play all day! Did I mention that I love to play? My foster family has lots of toys to play with and boy do I LOVE to play with them. I like to throw the ropes in the air and bounce the balls. I知 quite entertaining if I may say so myself! My foster mom wants me to make sure I mention that I知 not only the best snuggle bunny in the world but that I知 potty-trained, I知 not destructive, and I do well in a crate. I must say though that sometimes I don稚 like to go in the crate but given the right motivation, hint-hint treats, it痴 the best place in the word! Did I tell you that I have two passions in life? Playing and being your faithful companion is at the top of my to-do-list. I would much rather be by your side at all times with my toys of course. So since I知 the all around perfect companion and entertainer you won稚 need any other dogs! My foster mom says I値l be missed but never forgotten, duh, but that she wishes for me a family of my very own. Will you be my forever family? I would love to meet you. Want a date? Fill out an application! Love - Libby! -------------------------------------- This female boxer, Libby, was brought into a local as a stray. She was found wandering around in an Arlington park, pregnant, in pain, and unable to deliver the puppies which had died in utero. We could tell she felt very bad and was getting weak. It was felt by everyone at the shelter that she would not live through the night without vet care. She was so sweet and patient with the kennel tech as she checked her to see if there was a puppy hung up in the birth canal. No sign of aggression whatsoever, just a pleading look for someone to please help her. My request to the shelter to allow me to obtain vet care for her was granted, and I took her over to I-20 Animal Clinic where she had xrays and bloodwork done. It was discovered that her puppies were all dead and in various states of decomposition, and the infection that had developed as a result was putting her in a critical state. Her only choices were emergency surgery, or euthanasia. I felt she had enough strength left in her to survive the surgery and respond to the antibiotics, so I opted for the surgery. She was started on antibiotics just prior to the surgery and given plasma to boost her blood cell count. She came through the surgery and anesthesia just fine with no issues. The vet flushed out the abdominal cavity as much as possible before sewing her back up. She said the uterus had almost ruptured it was so enlarged, and that the last hurdle will be getting the remaining infection under control. A good samaritan who walks the shelter that Libby was surrendered to has paid for Libby's surgery out of her own pocket and could use help with these costs. Libby's surgery, since she was rushed to an emergency clinic, has cost this good samaritan about 2000.00. |
